Chiropractic is.....
A health-care profession that focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system. The word "chiropractic" means "to be done by hand". Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint function add the nervous system.
A chiropractor is a primary care doctor who specializes in spinal health and well being. They focus on the prevention, diagnosis and conservative care of spine-related disorders and other painful joint issues. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors also provide soft tissue therapies, life-style recommendations, fitness coaching and nutritional advice.
A chiropractic adjustment is a very safe, specific, controlled force applied to a joint to restore proper function and mobility. Accidents, falls, stress or over-exertion can can negatively impact your spine or other joints. The changes impact tissues, the nervous system and other areas of the body. Left unresolved, this can make you more susceptible to chronic problems.
Massage Plus Chiropractic Care Equals Freedom From Pain
More and more Chiropractors and Massage Therapists are teaming up. It has been proven that the two therapies work better together than alone and patients are seeing better results by receiving both therapies.
Using a variety of techniques, a massage therapist can take care of soft tissue problems. Kneading and stretching the injured tissues will increase circulation to the area. Toxins will be pushed out of the injured tissue and fresh blood will be pumped into that area. Fascial tissues will slowly be stretched back to their normal state. Trigger point pain will be released, painful swelling and inflammation reduced and nutrients will be brought back into that area. The fascia and muscle will begin to soften and lengthen. After this is accomplished, your chiropractor will use manipulations to return your joint to its normal position, which in turn will restore joint mobility back to normal.
Your chiropractic treatment will proceed much easier and with less discomfort when your soft tissue has been addressed first with a massage treatment. Massage after your chiropractic treatment will allow your adjustment to last longer when your muscle tension is released as tight muscles will pull the joint out of alignment again. Once your pain is gone and your body is back to normal alignment, use these two great modalities as part of your personal health plan.
Your recovery time will be shorter and more complete when you address all the components of your pain. Massage teamed with chiropractic care work great together as a treatment for the cause of your pain, not just the symptoms. Both modalities offer natural, hands on and drug free healing techniques to help you maintain optimal health and well-being.
